BODY, MIND, CLOSET

Hey Everyone! 
It's definitely time to get ready for summer, and I'm not referring to achieving the ideal beach bod', hitting tanning salons, planning expensive trips, or splurging on summer dresses. Summer is a time to cleanse your body and mind, so don't forget to drink a lot of water, no, coca-cola light does not count as brown water, IT'S TOXIC!. 

I also advise you to eat plenty of fruits and veggies and if you're having problems with eating rabbit food, just imagine how fab your Instagram will look after a few green meals, hello followers! Finally it's also important to feed your mind, so get reading! I know what you're thinking, but reading hashtags, tweets and the back of your milk carton does NOT count as reading daily...

After focusing on your own well-being, I think it's a good idea for you to make sure your closet is doing well too. So clean it out, iron what needs to be ironed, hand wash what must be hand washed, and update your closet by checking out Fashion Pills for cool clothes and where the new pieces are stocked!

Hola a todos ! ;) Definitivamente es hora de prepararse para el verano y no me estoy refiriendo a la 'operación bikini', las sesiones de bronceado, los planes de viaje, ni al derroche de dinero en vestidos veraniegos. El verano es el tiempo ideal para limpiar cuerpo y mente, así que no olvides beber mucho agua, y no…! la coca-light no cuenta como agua de color marrón .... ES TÓXICA!

También es fundamental comer mucha fruta y verduras, y si tienes problemas con este tipo de comida vegetariana, piensa en lo genial que va a quedar tu Instagram después de un par de días comiendo healthy food… Tampoco te olvides de alimentar tu mente con un poco de lectura. Sé lo que estás pensando... pero leer hashtags, fb status, tweets, o lo que pone en el cartón de la leche NO cuenta como lectura diaria. 

Y después de este repaso de comida sana, salud y healthy life style, sería una buena idea que compruebes que tu armario también está listo para el verano. Haz un poco de limpieza, plancha lo que tengas que planchar, lava a mano tus prendas favoritas y actualiza tu armario en  Fashion Pills  . Tienen la ropa más cool de la temporada y todas nuestras nuevas piezas!

You might feel done, you might be sick and tired, but don’t give up yet! Mr.Sun is finally starting to show off his thick muscle rays of light, I for one couldn’t be more excited. Summer is finally (or barely?) close enough for it to be socially acceptable to start planning your summer holiday, book cheap flights and shop for the perfect cocktail outfit! After statistical analyzation or flipping through Vogue, I’m placing my bet on BLUE as the it-colour. Why do you ask? Well, I'm really digging blue right now, it just feels right.  I'll leave you with a fun fact, “blue birds can’t see the colour blue”, such a pity since the blue bird is the animal kingdoms version of Beyonce (crazy fabulous). It’s like Ryan Gosling believing he's the elephant man when he looks in the mirror.

“I have never understood the female capacity to avoid a direct answer to any question.” - Spock

Clara lives in an art gallery she calls her apartment, in Madrid. She was curious to see my new collection Bomb Shell, and discuss future projects so I left with a trunk full of jewellery and headed her way. I showed her my pieces from For Your Eyes Only and Bomb Shell, she bought a few pieces, one of them which she will wear to an appearance tonight at the AD party!

The fashionista has an impressive CV including, former fashion news editor for ELLE, currently the MBFW Madrid correspondent, writes for  periodico La Razon, and is an all-round fashion writer, but she's not the fashion diva, or business woman you might be imagining. No, she has the charming flair of an innocent girl, making her a pleasure to hang about. Her child-like love for life, and energy is intoxicating - you're ensured a blast with her!

But let's focus on what's really important, Clara's apartment. Her boyfriend  and friend of mine Hugo Portuondo owns the art gallery Portuondo with his brother Diego in 90-92 Pimlico Road, London hence the art gallery vibe in the couple's apartment, and the walls are covered in art pieces, and photographs taken by Hugo's brother, Diego.








Every corner has a different theme with the most wonderful treasures from dolls (one of them a Chanel doll, with the same outfit as me!), to souvenirs and art pieces.







One of my favourite items was a framed picture of planet of the apes. Don't you just love the unorthodox idea of that? 





Her walk-in closet is just as fabulous as the rest of her apartment. It was like waling into a high fashion boutique, mixed with a Halloween costume store. Looking though her closet I felt like a 9 years old drooling over a pink princess dress. Except I'm not 9 anymore, and it wasn't a pink princess dress, but a pair of Jimmy Choo's! Clara truly is one of the most nice and kind people I've met, and I'm not only saying this because I got to borrow the shoes for the photo shoot. Thank you Clara!

A fun fact I learned about her, is that she loves Spock. Yes, Spock as in Startreck. A trekkie at heart, she has a special corner for her Startreck memorabilia, including a Spock doll, Spock costume and a framed picture of none other than Spock. Unfortunately Leonard Nemoy, who played Spock, passed away the 15th of February this year, a great loss for all man and vulcans (Startreck joke).

HOW-TO:  Make it to the Street Style Section in Vogue

 

The Street Style section is definitely one of my favourite sections, you know the one where photographers take photos of "normal" people looking VERY stylish. I wonder if they left their wardrobe thinking, "I'm going to be in the Street Style section today". Here are some tips if your life mission is to be in the Street Style section: 

1)    Be born tall unless you’re Miroslava Duma (she can do no wrong).

2)    Wear an EXTRAVAGANT accessory. Wear a tea-cup (yes, a real one) on your head, or a piece from my collection Bomb Shell. 

3)    Spend your years salary on a trending piece. The disadvantage of this, is that you will be broke, will only wear it once, and will be featured with 20 other street savy individuals on half a page. A solution to this is wearing a piece from my BOMB SHELL collection. 

4)    Actually GO to the Fashion Week of your country, they’re not gonna show up at your door to take a picture. (Although I’m sure they should!) 

5)    Photobomb someone famous. Make use of your social media SKILLS and stalk ANNA WINTOUR or  RIHANNA  … I know people that they do that and they win!

6)    Get a funky haircut, Lolita Sun glasses or wear a hat. You have to think outside the box, somewhere along a Britney bald buzzcut, or Daft Punk helmet.

That's all the advice I've got! If this doesn't work, wear (or rather don't wear) whatever Taylor Swift is wearing (or not wearing), you'll end up in Street Style for sure!

Winter is Officially Over!

I'm DONE With Winter.

Christmas, New Years, Valentines Day and cold February is over! It was a great ride, but I’m ready for the gloomiest time of year to be over! Shouldn’t it be by now? There are no more gifts to give, no more cheat days, fireworks, full chocolate boxes, or ski get aways, which means that spring is up next. Although the season of winter is unfortunately still present in March, I have decided to flip the page and welcome Spring. Also, I would like to take the time to encourage Spring dances, as opposed to rain dances, although I am aware that the two are linked.

Let me take you on a journey. Imagine white sandy beaches, the sound of waves, and birds blocking the sun as you're tanning on the beach. You might even be sipping a mojito, or piña colada. Can you hear hakuna-matata in the background? Good. Unfortunately it's March, and this image is not going to become reality for another few months. To make us all feel more optimistic about the present, I would like to introduce my very new, summer-y marine inspired collection, “Bomb Shell”, full of fish, shells and crab kisses, to encourage you, and the climate to get on with the only present I’m comfortable with, Spring/Summer ‘15.

ANITA PALLENBERG 

Anita Pallenburg is my latest girl crush.

The Italian born actress, model and fashion designer was famed for her relationships with Brian Jones and the Rolling Stone's Keith Richards.

 Pallenburg lived and breathed the 60's with Andy Warhol whose dil "The Factory" she starred in, all whilst struggling with alcoholism and an addiction to heroin.

 Marianne Faithful, one of her good friends described her quality as "evil glamour",as can be seen from her iconic pieces of fur, fringes, feathers all with a little squeeze of rock. 

I love her look and you can see through these grainy, romantic images that she had more than just her beauty. Richards bodyguard described Anita as "a life-force, a woman so powerful and so full of strength and determination that men came to lean on her".

Are you encountering the winter blues yet, is the chill in the air becoming less refreshing? If so take a dive into my favourite magazine Lula new issue editorial 'I will wait for you there'. You will stumble across white sands, forests, palm trees, and urban meets tropical adventure.  

The pattern and print is the centre point of this editorial from simplistic to intense and clashing. Simplicity seems to be the key to these images, the use of overexposed, light filled images give a sense of nostalgia, 60's inspiration. 

My favourite piece has to be the jewel covered shades, beautiful!

Tim walker brings fantasy to life with his fantastical, nostalgic, fairytale imagery. It has been stated that his photographs 'dazzle with life, colour and humour', much of his work can be found amongst the pages of British, French Italian and American Vogue. In love with the new issue of Tank magazine with different covers!

 "Christian Lacroix with iPad and stylo (his tool of choice nowadays) generated a series of sketches, combining his legendary illustrations with new collage techniques. His digital tools only enhanced his personal touch, his distinct fingerprint on such delicate details was perfectly in tune with the new Tank magazine issue's theme of technology and sensuality and so unmistakably Lacroix with his incredible genius to make us dream. FRIDA KAHLO ON THE CATWALK WEARING PATRICIA NICOLAS JEWELLERY

MERCEDES BENZ MADRID FASHION WEEK - As you might all know I partnered up with designer Maya Hansen to create pieces for Madrid Fashion Week. Everything worked out perfectly, even the Madrid weather remained beautiful as ever. Backstage with Maya I had such fun dressing and styling the amazing models.

The collection was all about Mexico, the day of death, virgin Guadalupe, and the mexican painter and one of my obsessions Frida Kahlo. Lots of colors, prints, flowers in the hair and fun statement pieces.


Frida was once famously quoted to say "I think that little by little I'll be able to solve my problems and survive". This collection is certainly an expression of female strength and endurance, showing women to be bold, beautiful and strong, just as Frida lived her life. 

Drawing on Frida´s latino roots (which I share!) I incorporated gothic skulls, writhing, snakes and skeletons hands but by mixing them with comical palm trees, watermelon necklaces, and sumptuous lips earrings to keep the pieces fresh and modern. 

This new collaboration is an eclectic mix of old and new. Drawing on elements of vintage style juxatposed with my cutting edge, contemporary eye for design, I created a jewellery range that I hope any woman can wear with pride.

MERCEDES BENZ FASHION WEEK MADRID - Como ya sabéis los que me seguís por twitter he colaborado con la diseñadora Maya Hansen para la creación de estas piezas para la Mercedes benz Fashion Week en Madrid. Todo salió genial,incluyendo el increíble clima en España. Estuve los dos días en backstage con Maya y lo pasamos muy bien haciendo el estilismo a las modelos y dando un último vistazo para que todo saliera perfecto.

La colección fue inspirada en México, en el día de la muerte, la virgen de Guadalupe , y en mi obsesión , la pintora mexicana Frida Kahlo. Una colección muy artesanal, con mucho color y estampados, flores en el pelo y accesorios divertidos. 

Hay una cita de Frida Kahlo que dice ¨ Poco a poco voy a ser capaz de resolver mis problemas y sobrevivir ¨. es sin duda la base de nuestra colaboración. Dos diseñadoras unidas para mostrar la fortaleza de la mujer, la seguridad, la tenacidad, el talento,y el trabajo, justo como Frida Kahlo vivió su vida, siendo ella misma, luchando, siendo libre, siendo fuerte.

Con una base de raíces latinas, que comparto con Frida,  incorporamos calaveras, serpientes y esqueletos, y las mezclamos con piezas cómicas, palmeras tropicales con cocos de swarovski, collares sandía o pendientes de labios rojos, y así conseguimos hacer una colección con piezas frescas y modernas.
